겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스, 인천과학고 정두원 교장 방문
지난 1월 12일(금) 인천과학고 정두원 교장과 조희정 교사가 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스를 찾았다. 이번 방문은 2월 20일(화)에 예정된 ‘전국 과학고등학교 교장단의 겐트대학교 방문을 위한 사전 답사로 ▲겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 총장과의 간담회 ▲겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 실험실 투어 ▲IGC 시설 투어 순으로 진행되었다.
전국 과학고등학교 교장-겐트대 총장 간담회는 지난해 인천고교장-총장 간담회에 이어 진행하는 행사로 고교장들이 겐트대학교에 방문하여 겐트대 글로벌캠퍼스 총장과의 간담회를 통해 학생들의 교육과 진로에 관해 진솔한 대화를 나누는 행사로 진행되고 있다.
인천 과학고 정두원 교장은“실험과 실습 비중이 50%로 생명공학분야 전문가를 길러내는 겐트대 글로벌캠퍼스의 커리큘럼이 과학고 학생들이 연계 학업을 이어나가는데 적합해하다”라고 말했다.
한태준 겐트대학교 총장은 “겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 연간 240학점(이론 120학점, 실기 120학점)을 이수해야 졸업이 가능하다.”며 “과학고 학생들에게 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 생각한다. 특히 “경제적 여건이 어렵지만 우수한 학생들이 학업에 매진할 수 있도록 연간 학비 전액을 지원하는 미래인재장학금 제도를 운영하고 있으며 함께 협력하여 미래 글로벌 인재를 양성하자”고 제안했다.

"Incheon Science High School Principal Doowon Jeong visits Ghent University Global Campus"
Last Friday, January 12, Principal Doowon Jeong and Teacher Heejeong Cho of Incheon Science High School visited Ghent University Global Campus. The visit was a preliminary visit for the 'National Science High School Principals-Ghent University President Meeting' scheduled for Tuesday, February 20. The visit consisted of ▲ a meeting with the President of Ghent University Global Campus, ▲ a tour of Ghent University Global Campus laboratories, and ▲ a tour of IGC facilities.
Following the Incheon High School Principal-President Meeting last year, Ghent University is hosting the Science High School Principals-Ghent University President Meeting. High school principals visiting Ghent University will have open discussions with the president of the Ghent University Global Campus regarding students' academic and professional aspirations.
"The curriculum of Ghent University Global Campus, which consists of 50 % experiments and lab training to train professionals in the field of biotechnology, seems to be suitable for the students of Incheon Science High School to continue their studies with connectivity," said Doowon Jeong, principal of Incheon Science High School.
"Students must complete 240 credits (120 theory credits and 120 practical credits) per year to graduate from Ghent University Global Campus," stated Taejun Han, president of the university. I believe science high school students will find it to be an appealing opportunity. Specifically, he proposed, "Let's work together to foster future global talent, and we are operating a future talent scholarship system that provides full annual tuition support so that outstanding students in difficult economic conditions can focus on their studies."
