겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 인천영흥수산자원관 방문
지난 19일 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 한태준 총장, 환경공학과 Di Wu 교수, 박지혜 교수, 식품공학과 Mahta Mirzaei 교수를 비롯한 10여명이 인천영흥수산자원관에 방문하였다.
인천영흥수산자원관은 20년간 수산자원의 조성과 선진화된 종자생산 기술 개발을 통해 어업인 소득 증대 및 국가지정 수산생물병성감정기관 운영에 앞장서는 수산전문 연구기관이다. 또한 인천 지역 어업 육성을 위해 매년 해역에 적합한 고급 수산종자 400만마리를 생산 방류하고, 새로운 종자 생산 기술을 연구 개발하여 실용화 추진은 물론 양식장 적지조사, 수산생물을 이용한 갯벌 복원을 함으로써 수산자원이 회복되도록 노력하고 있다.
내년 마린유겐트코리아(가칭)이 설립되면 인천영흥수산자원관과 함께 ▲해양 R&D 공동기술 개발 ▲해양바이오 다목적/다양종 양식의 기술개발 연구 ▲해조류 생태복원 기술을 활용한 탄소중립 실현 연구사업 등을 협력해 나갈 예정이다.
한편 세계 최대 해양 융복합연구소인 겐트대 ‘마린유겐트’는 해양·환경·바이오 융복합 연구 및 기술 사업화를 목적으로 지난 2012년 설립됐으며, 마린유겐트코리아(가칭)는 산업통상자원부의 심의 절차를 통과하여 2024년 내로 인천 송도의 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스에 설립될 예정이다.

Ghent University Global Campus visits the Incheon Fisheries Resource Research Institute
Ghent University Global Campus President Taejun Han, Professor Di Wu and Professor Jihae Park of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Professor Mahta Mirzaei of the Department of Food Engineering, and 10 others visited the Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute on December 19th.
Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute is a fisheries research institute that has been leading the increase of fishermen's income and the operation of a nationally designated fisheries pathological analysis center through the cultivation of fishery resources and the development of advanced breed development technology for 20 years. In addition, to foster the local fishery in Incheon, the institute produces and releases 4 million high-quality fish breeds suitable for the local waters every year, and strives to restore fishery resources by researching and developing new breed development technologies, promoting their commercialization, conducting surveys to find suitable areas for fish farms, and restoring tidal flats using fishery organisms.
When Marine@UGent Korea (tentative) is established next year, we will cooperate with Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute for ▲ joint marine R&D technology development ▲ research on technology development for marine multi-purpose/multi-species aquaculture ▲ and research projects for carbon neutrality using seaweed ecological restoration technology.
Marine@UGent, the world's largest marine research institute, was established in 2012 for the purpose of commercializing marine, environmental, and bio convergence research and technology, and Marine@UGentKorea (tentative) is expected to be established at the Ghent University Global Campus in Songdo, Incheon within 2024 after clearing the review process by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.
