President Taejun Han to deliver keynote; International Youth English Speech Contest also to be held

The 2026 Incheon International Media Conference, which promotes Incheon through the media and works to resolve international issues, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, the 15th, at Incheon Global Campus.

Under the theme “How Media and Education Shape Future Talent,” this year’s conference will take place in the Small Auditorium at Incheon Global Campus (IGC). More than 300 people are expected to attend, including representatives of global universities, media, education, business and policy circles.

Co-hosted by the Incheon Global Campus Foundation and Media Gyeongin, the conference will discuss international cooperation models that connect education, media, industry and youth, as well as ways to build Incheon into a hub for global talent.

The resident universities, namely Ghent University Global Campus, SUNY Korea, George Mason University Korea and the University of Utah Asia Campus, will also take part, and the event is sponsored by EOS Co., Ltd.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Taejun Han, President of Ghent University Global Campus, on the theme “A New Vision and Future Built Together with Global Universities.” President Han will present the profile of the global talent that modern society demands, along with the roles of universities, cities, industry and the media.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., a special session and Press Day will be held under the theme “Global Education Opens Up Incheon, a Global City.” Korean and international journalists will tour the resident universities and the education and research facilities at Incheon Global Campus, and will discuss global education cooperation with university officials.

Session 1, starting at 3 p.m., is themed “The Changing Face of Education and a Vision of Future Society from a Media Perspective,” and will explore international cooperation strategies that link education, industry and the media.

Sejong Mo, Chair of the Incheon International Media Conference Organizing Committee and Professor Emeritus at Inha University, will moderate. The panelists are Chaewan Lim, President of the World Diaspora Association and Professor Emeritus at Chonnam National University; Kwanok Yoon, Editorial Writer at the Incheon Ilbo; Byeongryul Park, Economics Reporter at The Kyunghyang Shinmun; and Juseok Maeng, Bureau Chief at NTD Television (U.S.).

The discussion will cover the circulation of outstanding overseas talent and the building of a global network of Korean talent, regional innovation strategies in which Incheon’s advanced industries and global talent grow together, a job-creation and start-up ecosystem that connects Korean companies with global talent, and the international competitiveness of Korean talent.

As a side event, the awards ceremony for the 2026 International Youth English Speech Contest will also be held. Under the slogan “Speak for Korea, Speak for the World,” students from kindergarten and elementary, middle and high schools in Korea and abroad took part in this year’s contest, presenting their ideas and alternatives in English on the theme “For a Better World.”

After the conference, at 6 p.m., the “IGC×Sebasi Special Lecture,” themed “Learn Bold, Lead Global: Leaping into a Wider World,” will be held in the Grand Auditorium at Incheon Global Campus.

The speakers are Taejun Han, President of Ghent University Global Campus; Jongseong Choi, Associate Professor at SUNY Korea; Heeyoung Noh, CEO and Brand Director of Hino Consulting Firm; Jaebung Choi, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University; and Juyoung Byun, CEO of the Incheon Global Campus Foundation. They will share the future vision for, and the leap forward of, the Global Campus.

The Incheon Global Campus Foundation plans to use this event as an opportunity to develop Incheon Global Campus from an educational space where foreign universities are gathered into a global innovation platform where education, research, industry and the media are connected as one. //End//
