겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(GUGC)의 한태준 총장님께서 최근 방송에 출연하여
인천 지역과 함께하는 대학의 역할, 글로벌 해양 연구 네트워크, 지속 가능한 기술 개발 등 다양한 주제에 대해 진솔한 이야기를 나눴다.
한 총장님은 “대학은 지역사회와 협업을 하거나 어떤 연관된 관계를 갖지 않으면 대학으로서 참된 생명을 가질 수 없다”며,
인천의 갯벌 생태 보존, 기업 협력, 교육청과의 연계 교육 등을 통해 실질적인 지역 연계를 이어가고 있음을 강조했다.
특히, 강화도 갯벌 생물의 탄소 흡수 능력을 기반으로 한 블루카본 전략, 해양융합연구소 '마린 유겐트 코리아' 설립을 통한
글로벌 해양 바이오클러스터 조성, 해조류를 활용한 친환경 섬유 연구 등 GUGC가 주도하는 다양한 미래지향적 연구와 실천 사례를 소개하였다.

President of Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) Taejun Han, recently appeared on a television program,
where he shared insightful perspectives on the university’s role in the local community, its involvement in global marine research networks, and the development of sustainable technologies.
President Han emphasized that "a university cannot truly thrive without collaboration or meaningful connections with its local community,"
highlighting GUGC’s active involvement in preserving the Incheon tidal flat ecosystem,
fostering partnerships with local businesses, and providing marine education in cooperation with the regional education office.
He also introduced several of GUGC’s future-oriented initiatives,
including a blue carbon strategy based on the carbon absorption capacity of organisms in the Ganghwa tidal flats,
the establishment of the Marine UGent Korea research center to build a global marine bio-cluster, and the development of eco-friendly fibers using seaweed.
With a strong university foundation, the nurturing of talent, and continuous technology innovation, GUGC is fostering a healthy cycle of sustainable growth.
