겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 IGC 산학협력 커넥트 위크 참가
❏ 인천글로벌캠퍼스(IGC) 입주 외국대학들의 산학협력이 활성화되고 있는 가운데 대학-기업 간 협력 도모를 위한 네트워킹 행사가 열려 관심을 모았다. 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 지난 12~13일 ‘2023 IGC 산학협력 커넥트위크(Connect Week)’ 행사가 개최되었다고 13일 밝혔다.
❏ 이번 행사는 인천경제청 주최, IGC 운영재단과 겐트대학교 글로벌캠펏, 한국뉴욕주립대, 한국조지메이슨대, 유타대 아시아캠퍼스 공동 주관, 산업통상자원부 후원으로 ‘글로벌 산학협력 소통의 창’이라는 주제로 열렸다.
❏ 행사에는 김진용 인천경제청장을 비롯 김홍주 산업통상자원부 경제자유구역기획단장, 박병근 IGC 운영재단 대표이사, IGC 입주 각 대학 총장, 한국스탠포드센터(SCIGC), 삼성바이오로직스, CJ 헬스케어, 현대자동차, 에이피테크, 인천테크노파크, 한국발명진흥회 등 총 40여개 기관 관계자들이 참석, 각 대학과 참여 기업의 산학협력 현황을 청취하고 상호 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.
❏ 첫째 날 행사는 산학협력 협의체 회의, 참여기관 발표, 대학–기업 간 네트워킹 등의 순으로 진행됐으며 특히 바이오, 인공지능(AI), 의료·헬스 등 분야별 네트워킹이 활발히 진행됐다.
❏ 둘째 날 행사는 인천대, 인하대, 재능대, 카톨릭대 등 관내 대학의 산학협력단을 초청, IGC 대학과 국내 대학간의 상호 벤치마킹을 통한 향후 산학협력의 실행력 제고에 초점을 맞췄다.
❏ 한태준 겐트대학교 총장은 발표를 통해 “겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 갯벌 규조류를 활용한 탄소감축, 우뭇가사리를 통한 고부가가치 생산, 생물을 활용한 물관리, 마린유겐트와 기업체 간의 협력, 해조류 초콜릿 등 많은 산학연 협력 프로그램을 진행하고 있다”며 “향후 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 관·산·학·연 협력을 통해 인천 블루바이오클러스터의 중심이 되기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

“Participating in Ghent University Global Campus IGC Industry-Academic Cooperation Connect Week”
❏ A networking event was held to encourage cooperation between universities and companies, drawing attention since industry-academia cooperation among foreign colleges based at the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) is becoming more and more active. Ghent University Global Campus announced on the 13th that the '2023 IGC Industry-Academia Cooperation Connect Week' took place on the 12th and 13th.
❏ This event, which had the theme "Global Industry-Academic Cooperation Communication Window," was organized by the Incheon Economic Office and co-hosted by the IGC Operating Foundation, Ghent University Global Campus, State University of New York Korea, George Mason University Korea, and the University of Utah Asia Campus. It was also sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.
❏ Stanford Center Korea (SCIGC), Samsung BioLogics, CJ Healthcare, AP Tech, Incheon Techno Park, and the Korea Invention Promotion Association, the presidents of each university in the IGC, Hyundai Motor Company, and commissioner Kim Jin-yong of the Incheon Economic Office, Kim Hong-joo, head of the Free Economic Zone Planning Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, and Park Byeong-geun, CEO of the IGC Operating Foundation, were among the attendees. Officials from a total of forty organizations had time to speak with one another and learn about the current state of industry-academia cooperation with each university and participating companies.
❏ The schedule for the first day of the event included presentations by participating organizations, networking opportunities between universities and companies, and a meeting of the industry-academic cooperation council. Specifically, there was active networking in the bio, medical/health, and artificial intelligence (AI) domains.
❏ The second day's event invited industry-academia cooperation groups from local universities such as Incheon National University, Inha University, JEI University, and The Catholic University of Korea to improve the implementation of future industry-academia cooperation through mutual benchmarking between IGC University and domestic universities.
❏ According to Taejun Han, president of Ghent University, "Ghent University Global Campus has many industry-academia-research cooperation programs such as carbon reduction using tidal flat diatoms, high value-added production using agar, water management using living organisms, cooperation between MarineUGent and businesses, and seaweed chocolate. We hope that through collaboration between government, business, academia, and research institutes, Ghent University Global Campus will become the future hub of the Incheon Blue Bio Cluster.”
