[ 경산과학고 학생 대상 최적화 체험교육 ]
- 고교연계사업 일환…입학설명회, 캠퍼스투어, 실험실습 등 다양한 프로그램 구성
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(총장 한태준)가 지난 6월 12일, 경산과학고등학교 생명과학 동아리 학생 20명을 대상으로 다양한 체험교육을 진행했다.
행사는 학생들의 입시에 도움을 줄 수 있는 입학설명회와 캠퍼스투어, 이론수업, 그리고 겐트대 글로벌캠퍼스 서동혜 교수와 박혜린 박사가 직접 진행하는 분자생물학 실험실습 등으로 구성됐다.
특히 3시간 동안 진행된 분자생물학 실험실습은 애기장대에서 추출한 DNA를 이용한 유전자 증폭, 제한효소 처리 및 유전자 재조합, 그리고 대장균을 이용한 외부 유전자 도입 등 과학동아리 학생들에게 최적화된 맞춤수업으로 호평을 받았다.
경산과학고등학교 2학년 김도연 양은 “경북 경산에서 인천 송도까지 4시간을 달려왔는데 고등학교에서는 접해보기 힘든 수준 높은 실험실습과 입시 관련 정보를 얻을 수 있어 정말 유익한 시간이었다. 앞으로 멋진 연구원 되고 싶은 꿈에 한걸음 더 다가간 느낌이다.”라고 소감을 밝혔다.
행사를 기획한 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 최정숙 교무행정실장은 “경산과학고등학교 학생들이 적극적으로 프로그램에 참여해 뿌듯하다. 고교연계사업 프로그램을 통해 앞으로도 학생들에게 보다 폭넓은 기회를 제공하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스가 현장에서 시민들을 만나기 위해 기획한 'Feel the Ghent' 행사가 지난 18일, 여의도 물빛무대에서 성황리에 개최됐다.
오후 6시부터 8시까지, 약 2시간 동안 진행된 행사는 ▲겐트대 밴드동아리 'GENE', ▲초대 가수 특별 공연, ▲학교 홍보영상 상영 등의 프로그램으로 진행됐다.
뿐만 아니라 입학 상담, 이벤트 부스 운영 및 선물 증정 등 다양한 볼거리와 체험 행사로 시민들의 반응은 뜨거웠다.
김소영 고등학생(서울)은 “해외 대학에 관심이 많았는데 이런 이벤트를 서울 한복판에서 경험하게 될 줄 몰랐다.”며 “음악도 즐기고 대학 입학 관련 정보도 얻을 수 있어 너무 좋았다.”라고 소감을 밝혔다.
학교는 이번 행사의 키워드로 '글로벌', '젊음', '열림', 그리고 '소통'을 꼽았으며, 지역사회와 소통하고 문화예술을 통한 사회적 가치를 실현하기 위해 행사를 기획했다고 밝혔다.
장혜정 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 홍보팀장은 “학교 소개와 입학 홍보 등의 목적으로 이번 행사를 기획했는데, 생각보다 많은 분들이 관심을 가져주셔서 감사하다.”며 “앞으로도 현장에서 학생과 학부모를 만나고 학교의 브랜드 가치를 강화하기 위해 노력하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

지난 28일, 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스가 예비 신입생과 학부모를 위해 재학생 토크쇼 입학설명회를 개최했다.
2025학년도 및 2026학년도 예비 지원자 및 학부모를 대상으로 진행된 이번 행사는 오전 10:00부터 약 2시간동안 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 대강당 에서 진행됐으며, 많은 학생과 학부모가 참석한 가운데 입시 정보와 학교생활에 대한 설명이 이어졌다.
특히 재학생들이 들려주는 생생한 학업 경험과 캠퍼스 생활 노하우, 전공 선택, 기숙사 생활, 그리고 수업 분위기 등 실제 대학생활에 대한 궁금증을 문답 형식으로 풀 수 있도록 구성했다.
참석자들의 반응은 뜨거웠으며, 재학생들과 전공 선택 이유부터 졸업 후 진로 방향까지 심도있는 이야기들이 오갔다. 행사 후 1:1 상담을 통해 참석자들은 필요한 정보를 모두 얻을 수 있었다며 긍정적인 평가들이 이어졌다.
김동희 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스 입학팀 차장은 “이번 설명회는 단순한 대학 소개를 넘어, 치열한 학업의 길을 걷고 있는 겐트대학교 재학생들과 직접 만나 이야기를 나눌 수 있었던 소중한 기회”라며, “적극적으로 참석해주신 모든 학생 및 학부모들께 감사드린다.”고 밝혔다.

Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC, Taejun Han, Prof., Dr. Campus President) held a variety of experiential education programs on June 12 for 20 students from the life science club of Gyeongsan Science High School.
The event included an admission information session, campus tour, theoretical class, and a hands-on molecular biology lab conducted directly by Professor Donghye Seo and Dr. Hyerin Park of GUGC—all designed to support students’ college preparation.
In particular, the three-hour molecular biology lab was highly praised as a tailored session optimized for science club students. It featured DNA extraction from Arabidopsis thaliana, gene amplification, restriction enzyme treatment and gene recombination, as well as gene insertion into E. coli.
Doyeon Kim, a second-year student at Gyeongsan Science High School, said, “It took four hours to get here from Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk to Songdo, Incheon, but it was truly worthwhile. I gained access to high-level lab work and valuable college admission information that's hard to find in high school. I feel a step closer to my dream of becoming a great researcher.”
Jungsuk Choi, Team Leader of Academic Affairs at GUGC who organized the event, remarked, “I’m proud of the Gyeongsan Science High School students for participating so enthusiastically. We will continue to do our best to provide broader opportunities for students through the high school linkage program.”

Ghent University Global Campus held the “Feel the Ghent” event on June 18 at Yeouido Mulbit Stage to connect with local citizens.
Held from 6 PM to 8 PM, the two-hour event featured performances by the GUGC band club “GENE,” a special guest singer, and the screening of a university promotional video.
In addition, admission consultations, event booths, and gift giveaways added color and excitement, receiving enthusiastic responses from attendees.
Soyoung Kim, a high school student from Seoul, commented, “I’m really interested in overseas universities, and I never expected to experience something like this in the heart of Seoul. It was great to enjoy music and also gain information about university admissions.”
The university selected “Global,” “Youth,” “Openness,” and “Communication” as the event’s keywords and stated that it planned the event to promote social values through art and culture while engaging with the local community.
Hyejeong Jang, Team Leader of Communication and Marketing at GUGC, said, “We planned this event to promote the university and admissions, and we’re grateful for the unexpected level of interest. We’ll continue to meet students and parents on-site and work to enhance the value of our university brand.”

On June 28, Ghent University Global Campus held an admission info session featuring a talk show with current students for prospective students and their parents.
Targeting applicants for the acadmemic year 2025-2026, 2026-2027 the event took place at the GUGC auditorium from 10:00 AM for about two hours. It attracted many students and parents and offered comprehensive information on admissions and student life.
The session was especially well received as it featured real-life experiences from current students. They shared their academic journeys, insights into campus life, reasons for choosing their majors, dormitory living, and classroom atmosphere in a Q&A format.
Attendees responded enthusiastically, engaging in in-depth conversations about everything from major selection to post-graduation plans. Many appreciated the follow-up one-on-one consultations that provided them with all the information they needed.
Donghee Kim, Deputy Director of Admissions at GUGC, commented, “This session went beyond simply introducing the university—it was a valuable opportunity to speak directly with students currently navigating their academic paths at Ghent University. We sincerely thank all the students and parents who participated.”
