- 한-벨 연구 역량과 식품산업 잇는 협력 모델 구축…K-해조류 식품 등 연구개발 기대
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(총장 한태준)와 한국식품산업클러스터진흥원(이사장 김덕호, 이하 식품진흥원)이 20일, 한국과 벨기에의 식품산업 및 기술의 발전과 공동 목표 달성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 지난 3월 출범한 덴마크 주관 국제 협력 사업 「글로벌 혁신 네트워크 프로그램(GINP)」을 계기로 다져 온 양측의 신뢰를 바탕으로 체결됐다. 이를 통해 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스와 식품진흥원이 손을 잡고 식품산업의 신규 자원 개발 및 기술 고도화를 위한 협력 기반을 마련했다. 협약식에는 해양 융복합 연구소인 마린유겐트코리아 박지혜 한국대표도 참석해 적극적인 협력 의사를 밝혔다.
양 기관은 이번 협약을 통해 ▲글로벌 식품산업 분야 공동 연구개발 및 사업기회 발굴 ▲식품 자원의 기능성 원료 소재화·상용화를 위한 지식·정보 교류 ▲식품소재 상용화 및 스케일업을 위한 장비·시설 공동 활용 ▲식품산업 인재 양성을 위한 교육 프로그램·워크숍·세미나 공동 운영 등 분야에서 협력할 계획이다.
이번 협약은 유럽식 교육과 연구 역량을 갖춘 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스와 마린유겐트코리아, 그리고 국내 식품산업을 선도하는 식품진흥원이 글로벌 산학연 협력 모델을 구축했다는 점에서 그 의미가 크다.
한태준 총장은 “대한민국 식품산업의 혁신 성장을 견인하는 식품진흥원과 우리의 생명·바이오 및 해양 연구 역량이 만난다면 지속 가능한 푸드테크 혁신 식품소재를 글로벌 무대에 선보일 수 있을 것”이라며, “K-해조류 가공식품 연구개발처럼 다양한 분야에서 성과를 창출할 수 있도록 앞으로도 긴밀히 협력할 예정”이라고 밝혔다. //끝//

Ghent University Global Campus–Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency Sign MOU to Discover Future Food Materials
Ghent University Global Campus (President Taejun Han) and the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency (Chairman Deokho Kim, hereinafter "the Agency") signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 20 to advance the food industry and technology of Korea and Belgium and achieve shared goals.
The agreement builds on the trust the two sides have developed through the Denmark-led international cooperation initiative, the Global Innovation Network Programme (GINP), launched last March. Through this, Ghent University Global Campus and the Agency have joined forces to lay the groundwork for cooperation on developing new food resources and advancing food technology. Also attending the signing ceremony was Jihae Park, Korea Representative of Marine@UGent Korea, a marine convergence research institute, who expressed strong willingness to cooperate.
Through this MOU, the two institutions plan to cooperate in the following areas: ▲joint R&D and business opportunity identification in the global food industry; ▲exchange of knowledge and information for converting food resources into functional raw materials and commercializing them; ▲joint use of equipment and facilities for the commercialization and scale-up of food materials; and ▲joint operation of education programs, workshops, and seminars to cultivate talent for the food industry.
This MOU is significant in that it establishes a global industry-academia-research collaboration model between Ghent University Global Campus and Marine@UGent Korea, which bring European-style education and research capabilities, and the Agency, a leader in Korea's food industry.
Campus President Taejun Han said, "If the Agency, which drives innovative growth in Korea's food industry, joins forces with our capabilities in life sciences, biotechnology, and marine research, we will be able to introduce sustainable, innovative food-tech materials to the global stage." He added, "We plan to continue close cooperation going forward so that we can produce results in various fields, such as R&D for K-seaweed processed food products." //END//
