겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스, 2025 오픈캠퍼스데이(Open campus day) 개최
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(GUGC)는 지난 5월 24일(토), 인천 송도국제도시에 위치한 대강당에서 2025,2026학년도 입학을 고려하는
예비 수험생 및 학부모를 위한 ‘오픈캠퍼스데이(Open Campus Day)’를 성황리에 개최했다.
이번 행사는 약 250여 명의 예비 지원자와 학부모들이 참석해 큰 관심과 호응을 받았으며, GUGC의 세계적 수준의 교육과정과 실질적인 진로 기회를 직접 확인할 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다.
행사 프로그램은 GUGC 교수진의 특강과 졸업생의 진로 이야기, 입학 안내 세션 등으로 구성되어, 참가자들이 겐트대학교의 교육 철학과 학문적 비전을 폭넓게 이해할 수 있도록 마련되었다.
정후선 교수(분자생명공학과)의 “겐트대학교에서 배우는 최첨단 연구와 교육” 특강을 통해 실제 산업 연계 프로젝트와 글로벌 연구 경험을 소개하며 GUGC의 차별화된 교육 역량을 강조했다.
박동익 교수(분자생명공학과)는 “융합적 교육의 힘”이라는 주제로 다양한 학문적 통섭과 글로벌 리더십의 중요성을 전달했다.
특히 졸업생 초청 강연은 참석자들의 큰 관심을 받았다.
백원석 졸업생(2023년 졸업 , 현 셀트리온 연구관리팀 재직)은 "겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스에서 생활하면서 제가 느꼈던 모든 경험을 공유할 수 있어 개인적으로 매우 기뻤다”며 “ 진학을 고려하고 있다면 자신 있게 추천드리고 싶다. 이 곳은 단순한 학위를 넘어 현재의 커리어를 가능하게 한 소중한 기반이 되었다."고 소감을 밝혔다.
또한 이현정 졸업생(2022년 졸업 , 현 고려대학교 인공지능학과 석사 재학) 역시 진심 어린 조언을 전하며 "예전보다 학교에 대한 관심이 훨씬 높아진 것을 체감했다. 열심히 공부할 자신이 있고 연구에 관심이 있다면 저는 꼭 추천드리고 싶은 학교."라고 전했다.
이 외에도 참가자들은 GUGC커리큘럼 안내, 입학 전형 설명, Q&A 세션 등을 통해 교수진 및 졸업생과 자유롭게 소통하며 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스에 대한 궁금증을 해소하고 진학에 대한 실질적인 정보를 얻을 수 있었다.
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 분자생명공학과, 환경공학과, 식품공학과 등 3개 전공을 중심으로, 글로벌 진출을 희망하는 학생들에게 실질적인 교육과 기회를 제공하고 있으며 앞으로도 다양한 체험형 프로그램을 통해 예비 지원자 및 학부모들과 소통을 지속해나갈 예정이다.
Ghent University Global Campus Successfully Hosts "Open Campus Day" for Prospective Students and Parents
On Saturday, May 24, Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) successfully held its "Open Campus Day" at the university's main auditorium in Songdo International City, Incheon, for prospective students and their parents considering admission for the 2025 and 2026 academic years.
The event attracted approximately 250 prospective applicants and their families, drawing significant attention and positive responses. It provided a meaningful opportunity for participants to experience GUGC's world-class academic programs and genuine career prospects firsthand.
The program featured various sessions, including special lectures by GUGC professors, career talks by alumni, and an admissions information session. These were designed to help attendees comprehensively understand Ghent University's educational philosophy and academic vision.
Professor Hoo sun Jeong (Department of Molecular Biotechnology) delivered a lecture titled "Cutting-Edge Research and Education at Ghent University," highlighting industry-linked projects and global research experiences and underscoring GUGC's distinctive academic strengths. Professor Dongik Park (Department of Molecular Biotechnology) spoke on "The Power of Interdisciplinary Education," emphasizing the importance of academic integration and global leadership.
The alum guest talk session was particularly noteworthy, which captured the attention and interest of many in the audience.
Wonsok Pack, a 2023 graduate working in the Research Management Team at Celltrion, shared, "It was a pleasure to talk about all the experiences I had while studying at GUGC. If you're considering applying, I wholeheartedly recommend it. This place offered more than a degree — it laid the foundation for my current career."
Hyunjung Lee, a 2022 graduate pursuing a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence at Korea University, also offered heartfelt advice, stating, "I can feel that interest in GUGC has grown significantly compared to before. I highly recommend this school if you are committed to studying and interested in research."
Attendees also had opportunities to interact freely with faculty and alumni during sessions covering GUGC's curriculum, admissions procedures, and Q&A discussions. These helped them resolve their questions and obtain practical
information about applying to GUGC.
Ghent University Global Campus offers three majors—Molecular Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, and Food Technology—and continues to provide students aiming for global careers with practical education and opportunities. The university plans to continue offering experiential programs to engage prospective students and their families in the future.
